Case study · Industrial equipment · B2B · buyers who type a failure, not a brand

An industrial equipment maker whose new site was inside Google AI on day two: 7,704 Google impressions and 1,194 AI impressions in 59 days

A manufacturer of industrial counting equipment whose buyer is an engineer with a line that stopped. Nobody searches for the brand until they already know it; they search for the failure. The new site went live on 23 Jul 2026 and answers the failure first. This is the one case with a true pre-intervention baseline, because Bing Webmaster Tools kept two years of history for the domain.

01 · ContextThe business

Sensors, totalisers and counters for production lines, fasteners and grain, made in Chapecó and sold across Brazil to plants that need to count parts reliably. Technical buyers, long evaluation, high trust threshold.

02 · Starting pointWhere it started

Two years of Bing history show what the old site did: 77 Bing impressions in the 28 days before launch, 120 in the same 28-day window one year earlier. Google Search Console was set up with the new site on 23 Jul 2026, so on Google the baseline is the first 28 days: 1,311 impressions.

03 · ChallengeThe problem to solve

Be the answer at the moment an engineer types a problem, not a product name, and make a static B2B site legible enough for Google's AI features and AI assistants to quote it.

04 · StrategyWhat the plan was

Positioning on the buyer's problem: the queries that bring impressions are technical failures. Answer them with an article set written to be quoted, present the equipment second, and instrument every interaction so the client sees where a buyer hesitates.

05 · StructureWhat I built

  • Positioning on the buyer's problem rather than the product name; the site answers the failure first and presents the equipment second.
  • SEO, GEO and AEO as one system: structured data, an entity graph and a technical article set written to be quoted by Google AI features and AI assistants.
  • A lead collection flow with click and interaction tracking on the site.
  • Event marking for reading time, form started, form abandoned and slow page, so the client sees where a buyer hesitates, not just that one arrived.

06 · TimelineDated milestones

  • 21 Sep 2024Start of the Bing Webmaster Tools history for the old site (baseline).
  • 23 Jul 2026New site goes live; Search Console property created the same day.
  • 24 Jul 2026First impression inside Google generative AI features, on day two.
  • 2 Sep 2026Peak day in Google Search so far: 292 impressions.
  • 15 Sep 2026Peak day inside Google AI features: 57 impressions.
  • 19 Sep 2026Last complete day in the 21 Sep 2026 export.

07 · From impression to actionEach step, its own measurement

Impressions are appearances in a search or AI experience. Clicks are recorded at the source. Sessions are recorded on the site. Key events are actions the site tracks. Leads and deals live in the client's CRM. None of these is converted into another.

Bing, top countries

Bing Webmaster Tools reports a fixed list of ten countries plus an unspecified bucket; it is not a full country list and is not added to the counts above. Brazil 2,122, United States 88, Italy 11, Japan 9, United Kingdom 9, Germany 9; unspecified 178.

11 · AI visibilityThree different measurements, kept apart

Impressions inside Google generative AI features: 1,194 in 59 days, from 15 countries, first one on 24 Jul 2026, peak 57 on 15 Sep 2026. This is Search Console's own report of the site appearing inside AI Overviews and AI Mode. It counts appearances, not clicks or visits.

Pages surfaced most:

  • / 194 AI impressions
  • /blog/balanca-industrial-errando-causas 193 AI impressions
  • /blog/sensor-pnp-npn-conectar-clp 169 AI impressions
  • /blog/protocolo-saida-sensor-industrial 168 AI impressions
  • /blog/contador-de-graos-eletronico 119 AI impressions

Citations as a source in Microsoft AI answers: 149 between 21 Jun and 19 Sep 2026, first on 23 Jun 2026, up to 4 different pages cited in a single day. From Bing Webmaster Tools' AI performance report. A citation is the page being used as a reference in a generated answer; it is not a click.

13 · ReadingWhat changed

On Google, from 1,311 impressions in the first 28 days to 5,728 in the last 28. The queries behind it are the ones a plant engineer types: "descalibrada" (116 impressions), "pnp e npn" (109 impressions), "descalibração" (83 impressions). Google's AI features showed the site 1,194 times, starting on the second day online. On Bing, where the old site can be compared directly, the last 28 days recorded 246 impressions against 120 in the same window a year earlier and 77 in the 28 days before launch. Bing's AI report records 149 citations of the site's pages as a source in the window, 85 of them in September so far.

14 · LimitsThe honest part

59 days is a short window and 15 countries inside AI features is a small number. Most impressions are Brazilian, which for an industrial maker selling in Brazil is the right shape, so the international line here is early. The brand query still accounts for most clicks (25 of 183); the technical queries bring impressions and AI visibility first, clicks later. No GA4 export is part of this data set, so no sessions, users or actions are published for Sanick; the tracking exists and will be added with its own export date.

15 · Method and sourcesHow to read these numbers

Attribution

Growth is reported as observed after the structure went live, in the period tracked. Where the property was created with the site, the baseline is the first 28 days of the property, which is stated on every comparison. No paid traffic was run on any of these sites in the window. Sales, leads and revenue belong to the client and are not published. Full method: how the numbers are measured. Machine-readable data: portfolio-data.json.

Questions people with this problem ask

Can a B2B industrial site get inside Google's AI features quickly?

This one recorded its first impression inside Google generative AI features on 24 Jul 2026, the day after going live, and 1,194 in 59 days. The pages cited are technical articles on failures, not product pages.

Is there a real before-and-after here?

On Bing, yes: the domain has history since September 2024. The 28 days to 19 Sep 2026 recorded 246 impressions against 120 in the same window of 2025. On Google the property is as old as the new site, so the comparison is first 28 days against last 28 days.

Why are clicks low compared with impressions?

Because the site appears for wide technical questions where the answer is often read on the results page or inside an AI feature. Click-through over the window is 2.38%. The brand query converts at a much higher rate.

Your buyer types the problem. Is your site the answer?

For technical products the search is a failure, a part or a symptom. If your competitor's page is the answer, send me your site and I will show you the gap.
