AEO vs SEO: what is the difference?

SEO optimizes your site to rank among the results and earn the click. AEO optimizes your content to be the answer itself: the snippet at the top, the voice reply, the concise response an engine reads back. AEO is not a replacement for SEO, it is SEO sharpened for a world where engines increasingly answer instead of listing. What SEO wins versus what AEO wins

Should I stop doing SEO and switch to AEO?

No, because there is nothing to switch to without SEO underneath: extraction happens from the index that SEO earns you a place in. The real move is adding the AEO finishing layer, question headings, answer-first sentences, extraction-friendly structure, schema, on top of continuing SEO fundamentals.

Does winning a featured snippet hurt my traffic?

Sometimes it reduces clicks on that query while increasing your visibility and authority: the buyer saw your name deliver the answer. Treat answer ownership as brand-building that pays on later, higher-intent searches and in AI citations, rather than judging it by the single query's click count.

Is AEO the same as optimizing for voice search?
